Kathleen Ferrell
Co-Chair
Director of Special Programs for the Office of the Vice President Economic Development
Ms. Ferrell is Director of Special Programs for the Office of the Vice President Economic Development at Stony Brook University. In this position, Ms. Ferrell assists with a broad range of special economic, industrial, political and educational programs, including such areas as the Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center and the Center of Excellence in Wireless & Information Technology.
Ms. Ferrell has been involved in numerous aspects of business since a young age: she began as an Oil Transportation Specialist for Sun Oil Co., Claymont, DE; an Assistant Manager of Shipping Operations for McAllister Brothers, NY, NY; a Business Manager for a division of Suffolk County; and is the co-founder of the weekly newspaper, The Sound Observer, in Eastern Long Island.
Ms. Ferrell sits on the Board of the New York State Bureau of Tobacco Use Prevention & Control appointed by Governor Pataki in 2006. Ms. Ferrell is a member of New York State Senate Task Force on Educational Equity Board since 2006 and sits on the College Council at SUNY Farmingdale College, appointed in 2007 by the New York State Senate.
