James T. Gallagher Bio

James T. GallagherJames T. Gallagher is currently an Adjunct Professor for Energy Regulation and Restructuring at Clarkson University Graduate School of Engineering with over 40 years of energy policy and industry experience.

Prior to this role, Mr. Gallagher served as the Executive Director of the New York State Smart Grid Consortium (NYSSGC). Mr. Gallagher oversaw the Consortium and its members as they worked toward broad statewide implementation of a safe, secure, and reliable smart grid to modernize New York's energy infrastructure and led the Consortium's efforts to assist Puerto Rico in developing a long-term grid roadmap following the devastation of Hurricane Maria.

In his role before joining the NYSSGC, Gallagher served as Manager of Strategic Planning at the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO), and also Director of Energy Policy for the City of New York, and he was the lead energy advisor to the Office of Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Before working with the City, he was Director of the Office of Electricity and Environment for the New York Public Service Commission, where he enjoyed a 21-year career.
